Job Title:  Design Engineer   

Location:  McKinney, TX

Job Description: 

KCI has immediate openings for a four to eight year Professional Engineer (PE) who specializes in transportation planning and design (newly licensed to four years as a PE in Texas).  The successful candidates will assist the Project Manager in extending leadership, direction, and training as part of a design team that is engineering a variety of transportation projects including advanced planning and schematic design, as well as preparing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).  Responsibilities to include providing project management oversight and applying engineering expertise in the daily operations for design production of transportation projects in accordance with good engineering practice; maintaining client relationships, quality assurance and quality control, continuing recruiting programs; coordinating and scheduling work to meet project goals on time and budget; coordinate with engineering design staff and other disciplines to meet project objectives.  Will supervise and schedule work of other team members while working under the supervision of a Project Manager.  Will assist in estimating fees, determining scope of work, preparing proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects.  Skills required are: Schematic and PS&E development; Geometric design; Microstation/Geopak experience and Microsoft Office applications.  

Qualifications: 

BS/MS of Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.

PE certification is required (or within six months).

Working experience with Microstation and GEOPAK is required.

Familiarity with the following software a Plus-

HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SureTrak, Raster Manager

TxDOT precertification is required (or within six months).

Working knowledge of hydraulics/hydrology design/analysis a plus.

Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.

Team player who is committed to professional development.

Excellent written and verbal skills are essential.
